  FAQs

If you have a general question or a question for a specific line officer or a bylaws question please e-mail it to webmaster and it will be forwarded to the appropriate officer and answered promptly.

Question:

I have a question on Auxiliary Minutes -- does the secretary have to record the name of the member that seconded a motion or can it read "motion by ______ and seconded that ....."

Answer:

On page 10 of the Booklet of Instructions, top paragraph states "The minutes of each meeting will thus contain a record of all business transacted; all main motions, whether carried or lost; all other motions that were carried, by whom motions were made and seconded."

Question:

I have a question about minutes for the auxiliary  -- If minutes are printed and distributed to members at the meeting, do they have to be returned to the secretary at the end of the meeting and destroyed.  I do not find anything in the by-laws about it but that it what we were told to do.

Answer:

The minutes must be read to the membership, National no longer allows us to type and distribute minutes except at the Department level.
