Ladies Auxiliary VFW

2010-2011 Department of Virginia

Department President Betty Gimble with National President Cortina Barnes

Dear Auxiliary Sisters,

Being elected Department President is a dream come true and it started when I joined the Auxiliary in 1995.  I have enjoyed traveling all over the Department of Virginia and getting to meet so many of you and forming some everlasting friendships.  With all of your help and support, we will have another great year.  I promise that I will do my best, and I look forward to serving with you.

The Program Chairmen this year are fantastic and are eager to answer your questions.  They have spent considerable time on the information in the President's handbook, so please read the material carefully and retain it for reference.  Important information is provided on the National Programs and what you will need to complete to have a successful year.

The National Programs have not changed this year but some of the projects have been deleted, for example, Snowball Express and Wreaths Across America.  It is important that you pay special attention to what the Department Chairmen are promoting and to their year-end awards.  You must first meet these obligations and then support any other projects.  Please pay attention to “deadlines” and remember that the Auxiliaries cannot change any deadlines.

I encourage each Auxiliary to have at least one member to get on the internet to monitor the National and Department websites.  The Department Secretary maintains the Department web-site (www.vfwvaaux.org).   She post General Orders, Bulletins, forms and has a list of Department Officers and Chairmen.   The National web-site is www.ladiesauxvfw.org  and there is important information there also.  You can print your Auxiliary membership reports to stay on top of your membership.

I am extremely proud and honored to be a part of this remarkable organization.  A HUGE Thank You for seeing the value in being a member of this outstanding organization.  We all need to get excited and tell others who we are and what we do.  I hope each of you will strive to sign up at least one new member this year so that we can keep our organization strong.

We are “United By Love for Our Veterans and Country” and should always “Honor, Respect and Remember our Veterans”.

Yours in friendship and love,

Betty Gimble
